CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – Week 5 of the Atlantic Coast Conference women’s tennis season saw student-athletes from three schools share the ACC Women’s Tennis Players of the Week honors for matches played February 2-9. Virginia’s Sara Ziodato was voted the Player of the Week, while NC State’s Michaela Laki earned her second Freshman of the Week honor this season. Stanford’s doubles team of Valerie Glozman and Connie Ma was tabbed the Doubles Team of the Week, it was announced on Tuesday.
ACC Women’s Tennis Player of the Week
Sara Ziodato, Grad., Virginia, Trieste, Italy
Ranked No. 33 overall in singles play, Ziodato helped lead the Cavaliers to the semifinals of the 2025 ITA Women’s National Team Indoor Championship with wins over No. 13 Tennessee and No. 8 North Carolina in Evanston, Illinois, last week.
In singles play, the graduate student from Trieste, Italy, was tied 5-5 in the third set on court two versus No. 32 Catherine Aulia of Tennessee when Virginia clinched the match on Friday, February 7. She followed that with a 7-6 (9-7), 2-6, 7-6 (7-3) win over No. 10 Theadora Rabman of North Carolina in the quarterfinals round to clinch Virginia’s 4-3 win over the Tar Heels on Saturday, February 8. and punched the Cavaliers' ticket to the ITA National Team Indoor semifinals for the first time in program history. Ziodato saved three match points to top Rabman and pick up the highest-ranked win of her career.
In doubles play, Ziodato teamed up with Meggie Navarro at the No. 3 flight to post a 6-3 win over No. 54 Maeve Thornton and Vanesa Suarez of Tennessee.
ACC Women’s Tennis Doubles Team of the Week
Valerie Glozman, Fr., Stanford, Bellevue, Washington
Connie Ma, Sr., Stanford, Dubin, California
The 49th-ranked doubles team of Glozman and Ma picked up a pair of ranked victories last week in the 2025 ITA Women’s National Team Indoor Championship. The Stanford duo defeated the No. 12 duo of DJ Bennett and Ava Hraster of Auburn, 6-2, on Friday, and then recorded a 6-4 victory over the No. 64 team of Mika Dagan Fruchtman and Britany Lau of Northwestern on Saturday.
Attempting to go 3-0 on the week on court one at the ITA event, the duo suffered a setback to No. 75 Elza Tomase and Elam Yan of No. 13 Tennessee in a 4-2 loss to the Volunteers.
ACC Women’s Tennis Freshman of the Week
Michaela Laki, Fr., NC State, Larissa, Greece
Laki picked up her second Freshman of the Week honor with a top-10 win in singles play and a strong showing in doubles action in the Wolfpack’s 5-2 win over Old Dominion. Laki posted a straight-set, 6-3, 6-3 win over No. 6 Sophia Johnson on court one in singles competition, after clinching the doubles point with a 6-4 victory over the Monarch’s duo of Marina Markina and Kira Matushkina on court three alongside Kristina Paskauskas.
