CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – Clemson senior midfielder Joran Gerbet was selected as the Atlantic Coast Conference’s 2024 Men’s Soccer Scholar-Athlete of the Year and leads the 2024 All-ACC Academic Men’s Soccer Team, which was announced Wednesday by the league office.
A native of Valence, France, Gerbet was a semifinalist for the 2024 MAC Hermann Trophy and earned the ACC’s 2024 Midfielder of the Year Award. He was a First-Team All-ACC and United Soccer Coaches First-Team All-America and All-South Region honoree in 2024. He also earned a spot on the ACC All-Tournament Team. In 20 matches in 2024, he totaled seven goals and eight assists for 22 points.
Following the season, he was selected in the first round at No. 27 overall in the 2025 MLS SuperDraft by Orlando City SC.
Named to the All-ACC Academic Team for the second straight season, Gerbet graduated from Clemson with a degree in Communication in December. He was named to the 2024 ACC Academic Honor Roll and also earned accolades on the President’s List and Dean’s List at Clemson.
A conference-record 174 student-athletes earned spots on the men’s soccer All-ACC Academic Team. All 15 ACC programs are represented, with Duke leading the way with 18 honorees. Louisville, Pitt and Stanford each had 15 honorees.
The All-ACC Academic Team is highlighted by each of the ACC’s five season award winners: Gerbet (Midfielder of the Year), Notre Dame’s Matthew Roou (Offensive Player of the Year), Pitt’s Casper Svendby (Defensive Player of the Year), Duke’s Wessel Speel (Goalkeeper of the Year) and Clemson’s Ransford Gyan (Freshman of the Year).
Academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0-grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one’s academic career. In addition, student-athletes must compete in at least 50 percent of their team’s contests.
