Day Two of the 2025 ACC Swimming and Diving Championships Complete

GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) - The 2025 Atlantic Coast Conference Swimming and Diving Championships resumed on Wednesday, February 19, in Greensboro, North Carolina, at the Greensboro Aquatic Center. Virginia took the lead on the women's side after day two with 494.5 points, while California holds the lead on the men’s side with 457 points.

Virginia claimed its sixth straight conference 200-free relay title. The squad of leadoff Claire Curzan, Gretchen Walsh, Alex Walsh and Maxine Parker combined for a time of 1:24.03. Louisville came in second with a time of 1:25.52, followed by Stanford in third at 1:26.08.

NC State grabbed its second straight title in the men’s 200-free relay with the returning and reigning champion trio of Quinin McCarty, Larry Salls, and Luke Miller, along with new addition sophomore Jerry Fox this season to pick up NC State’s second straight title in the men’s sprint relay event.

In her ACC Championships debut, Virginia freshman Katie Grimes touched the wall first in the women’s 500 freestyle with a finals time of 4:32.69. Stanford’s Aurora Roghair touched shortly behind at 4:32.88, while Cavalier teammate Cavan Gormsen rounded out the top three at 4:35.77.

Cal’s Lucas Henveaux took gold in the men’s 500 freestyle, breaking the conference record in the process. Henveaux’s NCAA A cut time of 4:08.83 broke the conference record of 4:09.13, previously set by NC State’s Anton Ipsen in January of 2018, as well as the Golden Bears’ program record previously set by Trenton Julian in 2021 with a 4:09.49.

Virginia Tech’s Carles Coll Marti earned a first-place finish in the men’s 200 IM with a finals time of 1:40.95. On the women’s side, Stanford’s Torri Huske made her ACC Championships debut a memorable one, picking up a win in the 200 IM with a time of 1:51.46.

Gretchen Walsh, who holds the NCAA, US Open, American, Pool, Conference and Meet records in the 50 free, earned her second straight ACC Women’s 50 free championship title with a time of 20.60 in the finals. Julia Dennis of Louisville (21.08) and Claire Curzan of Virginia (21.26) came in second and third place, respectively.

NC State’s Quintin McCarty took gold in the men’s 50 free with a time of 18.63.

In his ACC Championship debut, Stanford’s Jack Ryan snagged the men’s 1-meter diving title with a score of 411.95. Miami’s Max Flory scored a 400.50 to earn silver, while SMU’s Luke Sitz earned bronze with a 375.30. Flory and Sitz are on their second night of podium finishes, after Flory and Sitz finished in first and second, respectively, in the 3-meter dive last night.

The championships continue Thursday, February 20, at 9:30 a.m. ET with preliminary events. Thursday’s finals events will start at 5:30 p.m. ET. They will air live on ACC Network Extra. Direct links to the ACCNX feeds and live swimming and diving results are available HERE.
