CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – NC State sophomore guard Zoe Brooks has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week, and Wolfpack center Tilda Trygger earned Rookie of the Week honors for games played between February 17-23.
ACC women’s basketball weekly awards are voted on by the league’s Blue Ribbon Panel.
Brooks averaged 25.0 points, 7.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.5 steals and shot 45.7 percent (16-for-35) from the field and a perfect 17-for-17 from the free throw line in a pair of ACC top-20 wins over No. 20 Georgia Tech and No. 1 Notre Dame. To open the week, the Plainfield, New Jersey, native matched a game-high with 17 points and posted five rebounds, two assists and two steals in NC State’s 83-68 road win at Georgia Tech on Thursday, February 20. On Sunday, February 23, Brooks capped off her week with a career-high 33 points and 10 rebounds to pace the Wolfpack over the top-ranked Fighting Irish, as they sealed their first home win over an AP No. 1 since 1978.
Trygger nearly averaged a double-double with 13.5 points and 8.0 rebounds, as she helped the Wolfpack to two ranked conference victories. After scoring eight points and grabbing seven boards at No. 20 Georgia Tech on Thursday, the Stockholm, Sweden, native tallied 19 points, nine rebounds and a pair of blocks in the win over No. 1 Notre Dame on Sunday. The freshman finished 8-of-9 from the field in Sunday’s win, including a perfect 2-for-2 mark from distance.
Six ACC teams are in the latest Associated Press (AP) Top 25 Poll, headlined by three teams in the top 10, tying for the most among all conferences. Notre Dame continues to lead the way at No. 3, while North Carolina climbed a spot to No. 8 and NC State moved up four spots to No. 9 Duke is No. 16, Florida State is No. 24 and Louisville moves back into the top 25 for the first time since December.
The ACC Women’s Basketball regular season wraps up this weekend with the bracket for the 2025 Ally ACC Women’s Basketball Tournament being announced Sunday, March 2.
