CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – North Carolina and Syracuse shared the Week 4 Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Tennis weekly awards, it was announced on Tuesday, as the Tar Heels’ Reese Brantmeier was named the ACC Women’s Tennis Player of the Week and joined her doubles partner Alanis Hamilton in being tabbed the Doubles Team of the Week. Syracuse’s Monika Wojcik was named the Freshman of the Week for matches played January 27-February 2.
ACC Women’s Tennis Player of the Week
Reese Brantmeier, Jr., North Carolina, Whitewater, Wisconsin
Brantmeier was pivotal in the Tar Heels’ 4-3 win over No. 1 Georgia on February 1, handing the Bulldogs their first loss of the season. Playing at the No. 1 flight, Brantmeier defeated the top-ranked singles player in the nation in Georgia’s Dasha Vidmanova in three sets, 7-5, 3-6, 6-4, to clinch the upset victory for North Carolina.
Earlier in the match, Brantmeier teamed with Alanis Hamilton on court one in doubles play, posting a 6-1 win over UGA’s duo of Aysegul Mert and Vidmanova to clinch the doubles point for the Tar Heels in the 4-3 win.
ACC Women’s Tennis Doubles Team of the Week

In a top-10 matchup with No. 1 Georgia, the duo of Brantmeier and Hamilton got the No. 8 Tar Heels on the scoreboard first with a 6-1 win at the No. 1 doubles flight, sealing the doubles point for the road team. The doubles point proved to be the difference, as the Tar Heels prevailed with a 4-3 win over the Bulldogs, their first loss of the spring season.
ACC Women’s Tennis Freshman of the Week
Monika Wojcik, Fr., Syracuse, Delray Beach, Florida
Wojcik helped the Orange improve to 4-0 on the spring season with a 6-1 win at home over Drexel on Sunday, February 2. The freshman from Delray Beach, Florida, posted a 6-0, 4-6, 6-2 win over Drexel’s Rebecca Fielder at the No. 5 flight in singles play, winning the first three-set match of her college career and improving to 3-0 on the season in singles action.
In doubles action, Wojcik paired up with Constance Levivier for the first time this spring to cruise to a 6-1 win over Anastasia Kavounov and Rebecca Fielder to help secure the doubles point in the win. Syracuse has won the doubles point in three of its four matches this season.
