CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) - Eight Atlantic Coast Conference Swimming and Diving teams will hit the water this weekend over the course of four days, beginning Thursday, February 6, and ending Sunday, February 9.
Virginia will host the Cavalier Invitational from Thursday, February 6, through Saturday, February 8, which will follow the NCAA Championships prelim/finals format and include all NCAA Championship events. The No. 1 nationally ranked women’s team is coming off of a three-team sweep against No. 2 Texas, No. 8 NC State and No. 17 Arizona State last week.
North Carolina will host Duke, NC State, East Carolina and UNC Wilmington in Chapel Hill for an in-state showdown. The Tar Heels are led by the brother-sister duo of Aranza and Rodolfo Vázquez Montaño, who both swept the 1-meter and 3-meter on Friday, January 17, against NC State.
The Cardinals invite ACC foe Miami and in-state rival Kentucky to Louisville, Kentucky, for a two-day meet beginning on Thursday, February 6. Louisville is coming off of a Senior Day sweep against Cincinnati last time out.
On Friday, February 7, Boston College will travel across town to Boston University for the BU Winter Open. The Eagles will send just their men’s team to hit the water against Bentley, Brown, Colgate, Cornell, Dartmouth, Holy Cross, MIT, Tufts and Wesleyan.
Georgia Tech will travel to Auburn, Alabama, to participate in the Auburn First Chance Invitational. The Yellow Jacket men defeated South Carolina 169-131 on Saturday, January 25, while Viven Rothwell of the women’s team set a new school record in the 100 back (53.19).
The 2024-25 ACC Swimming & Diving Championships will take place on February 18-22 at the Greensboro Aquatic Center in Greensboro, North Carolina.

- The ACC had eight teams in the most recent CSCAA Division I Women’s Top 25 Poll, headlined by Virginia in the No. 1 spot and Stanford at No. 3. NC State and Cal tied at No. 8 while Louisville rounded out the top 10 at No. 10. North Carolina landed at No. 16, Duke at No. 23 and Florida State at No. 25.
- The ACC had nine teams in the most recent CSCAA Division I Men’s Top 25 Poll, headlined by California at No. 3, NC State at No. 6 and Stanford at No. 9 in the top 10. - Duke women’s swimmer Amaya Hanley was named the grand prize winner of the 2024 Go Teach Dr. Pepper Tuition Giveaway, earning an additional $10,000 on top of a $2,500 grant to assist in her continued pursuit of a career in education.
- At the 2024 World Aquatics 25m Championships, Virginia claimed 10 World Championship titles and set 11 Individual World Records, three Relay World Records and 18 American Records.
- Virginia’s Gretchen Walsh alone set nine Individual World Records, two Relay World Records, and 12 American Records.

- Boston College entered the 2024 season under the new leadership of head swimming and diving coach Dara Torres. Torres is a five-time Olympian, six-time World Record holder, and a four-time gold medalist.
- Dario di Fazio was named the head diving coach for Miami ahead of the 2024. Di Fazio has been the assistant diving coach at Miami for the past 28 years.
- Stanford women’s swimming and diving holds the title of the only program in the nation to finish in the top 10 in every NCAA Championship dating back to the 1975-76 season.
- In the 2024 Paris Olympics, ACC swimming and diving student-athletes brought home 18 gold medals, 22 silver medals, and 4 bronze medals for Team USA. NC State’s David Betlehem took home a bronze medal for Hungary.
