CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – Clemson sophomore second baseman Jarren Purify was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Week, while NC State sophomore left-handed pitcher Ryan Marohn was tabbed ACC Pitcher of the Week for games played March 3-9.

Purify led No. 10 Clemson to a 5-0 record last week after going 12-for-20 (.600) at the plate with two home runs, two triples, a double, nine RBIs, five runs, a 1.150 slugging percentage, .583 on-base percentage and one stolen base. The Detroit, Michigan, product had a trio of three-hit games and three multiple-RBI games, including going 3-for-4 a triple, double and four RBIs in Wednesday's win over Presbyterian. On the season, Purify is hitting .447 with 16 runs, four doubles, two triples, three homers, 17 RBIs, an .809 slugging percentage, a .500 on-base percentage and nine stolen bases in 15 games.
 
For the second straight week, Marohn tossed a complete-game shutout as NC State extended its winning streak to eight games. The southpaw was virtually unhittable on Sunday, March 9, throwing 9.0 innings and allowing just four hits. The Chantilly, Virginia, product struck out a career-high 14 hitters while allowing just one free pass. Between the sixth and ninth innings, Marohn stuck out nine consecutive batters and 10 of the last 12 hitters that he faced. After throwing a complete-game seven-inning shutout last time out, Marohn has now thrown 17 consecutive scoreless innings dating back to the fifth inning against Coastal Carolina in the Jacksonville Classic on February 23.
