CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – North Carolina sophomore attacker Marissa White and Virginia Tech junior attacker Lauren Render shared Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week honors, while Hokie graduate goalkeeper Aaliyah Jones claimed ACC Defensive Player of the Week laurels for games played from April 7-13.
White was a driving force behind a pair of North Carolina victories last week in which the Tar Heels scored 41 goals. The native of West Chester, Pennsylvania, tallied nine goals and an assist over the two games. She posted a season-high four goals, along with an assist, on Wednesday, April 9, at East Carolina and then came back to set another season high with five goals on Sunday, April 13, versus California.
Render totaled nine goals and an assist in leading the Hokies to an upset victory over No. 11 Syracuse on Saturday, April 12, scoring seven goals for Tech, which secured its place at the ACC Women's Lacrosse Championship. It was the third time this season in which she has tallied seven or more goals and her third hat trick in ACC play in 2025. The native of Powder Springs, Georgia, also scored three points with two goals and an assist on Wednesday in the Hokies' midweek victory over Coastal Carolina.
Jones was instrumental in the Hokies securing two big victories last week as she made double-digit saves against both Coastal Carolina and No. 11 Syracuse. A native of Austin, Texas, Jones made 10 saves on Wednesday against Coastal Carolina before stopping 13 shots and corralling five ground balls on Saturday in the victory against the Orange. The win over Syracuse was Tech's first over a ranked squad in 2025.
Seven ACC women’s lacrosse teams are ranked in the latest IWLCA poll, including four in the top 10, led by North Carolina and Boston College at No. 1 and 2, respectively.
