Georgia Tech’s Burress, Clemson’s Knaak Earn Final ACC Baseball Player of the Week Honors

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – Georgia Tech sophomore outfielder Drew Burress was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Baseball Player of the Week, while Clemson sophomore right-handed pitcher Aidan Knaak was tabbed the ACC Pitcher of the Week for games played May 12-17.

Burress went 4-for-4 in both of Georgia Tech’s wins over the weekend, leading the Yellow Jackets to the 2025 ACC regular season title with a series victory at No. 20 Duke. The series victory against the Blue Devils was Georgia Tech’s second straight series win over a Top 25 opponent. Burress’ eighth-inning home run on Saturday, May 17, put the Jackets ahead 6-2, helping Tech clinch its first outright conference regular season title since 2005. Burress hit four extra-base hits throughout the weekend (three doubles and a home run) becoming the only player in the ACC with 40 extra-base hits this season. He finished the regular season with an ACC-leading 23 doubles, tying the Georgia Tech record in the BBCOR era (since 2011) while also becoming the first Yellow Jacket in 24 years to record consecutive 70-run seasons.

As the Tigers’ starting pitcher, Knaak paved the way for Clemson's first no-hitter in 16 years by pitching 7.1 innings and matching his career-high 12 strikeouts in the win at Pitt. His career-high-tying 12th strikeout also gave him 100 strikeouts on the season, as he became the first ACC player to reach 100 strikeouts in 2025. The no-hitter, which was finished by Joe Allen and Lucas Mahlstedt, was the Tigers' 15th in history, third in an ACC game and first in an ACC road game. It was also the first nine-inning no-hitter in an ACC game since 2021. On the season, he is 8-1 with a 4.25 ERA, .208 opponents' batting average and 100 strikeouts against 28 walks in 78.1 innings pitched over 14 starts. This is Knaak’s second ACC Pitcher of the Week honor of the season.
