ACC Women’s Lacrosse Players Earn IWLCA Player of the Year Honors

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – Three ACC women’s lacrosse student-athletes have been recognized as positional Players of the Year for the 2025 season by the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA). North Carolina redshirt freshman attacker Chloe Humphrey not only earned Division I Attacker of the Year honors but also was named Division I Player of the Year.

North Carolina junior midfielder Sam Forrest was tabbed Division I Defender of the Year, while Boston College junior Shea Dolce was selected Division I Goalkeeper of the Year.

A native of Darien, Connecticut, Humphrey delivered a historic 2025 season, racking up 90 goals and 28 assists for 118 points. Her 90 goals set a new NCAA freshman record and powered the Tar Heels to their fourth National Championship. A Tewaaraton Award finalist and first-team All-American, Humphrey also earned first-team All-ACC honors, ACC Tournament MVP and NCAA Tournament Most Outstanding Player honors. She recorded hat tricks in 18 of 20 games, including nine performances with five or more goals, and was named IWLCA Offensive Player of the Week twice.

Forrest has been a cornerstone of North Carolina’s elite defense, earning Second Team All-American and First Team All-ACC honors, as well as a spot among the Tewaaraton Award Top 25 Nominees. The Glastonbury, Connecticut, native recorded 23 ground balls, 18 caused turnovers, and four draw controls while anchoring a unit that led the nation in scoring defense, allowing just 6.86 goals per game. Forrest is routinely tasked with guarding the opposition’s top scorer—and consistently delivers. In the National Championship, she helped hold the nation’s leading scorer, Madison Taylor, to zero goals and just four assists, sealing UNC’s defensive dominance en route to the title.

Dolce earned ACC Goalkeeper of the Year honors for the second straight year and is a 2025 Tewaaraton Award finalist. The Darien, Connecticut, native leads the NCAA with a .549 save percentage and ranks first in total saves (202) and second in goals-against average (7.85). Dolce also tops the ACC with 12 double-digit save performances this season. A key anchor for her team’s defense, she was named an Inside Lacrosse and USA Lacrosse All-American, earned First Team All-ACC honors, and was selected to the IWLCA All-Northeast Region First Team.
