CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – North Carolina redshirt freshman attacker Chloe Humphrey won the 2025 Tewaaraton Award on Thursday, as announced by the Tewaaraton Foundation during ceremonies in Washington, D.C. The award is presented annually to the nation's top college lacrosse player.
Humphrey is the 11th women’s Tewaaraton recipient from an ACC program and the first in North Carolina’s storied history. She also is the first-ever freshman Tewaaraton honoree.
ACC players comprised four of the five finalists for the 2025 Tewaaraton Award: Boston College's Rachel Clark and Shea Dolce and UNC's Ashley Humphrey and Chloe Humphrey.
A native of Darien, Connecticut, Humphrey delivered a historic 2025 season, racking up 90 goals and 28 assists for 118 points. Her 90 goals set an NCAA freshman record and powered the Tar Heels to an undefeated season (22-0) and their fourth NCAA National Championship.
Named the IWLCA Player of the Year and Attacker of the Year, Humphrey also earned First-Team All-America and First-Team All-ACC honors and was tabbed the ACC Tournament MVP and NCAA Tournament Most Outstanding Player. She recorded hat tricks in 18 of 20 games, including nine performances with five or more goals, and was named IWLCA National Offensive Player of the Week twice.
