CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – Four Atlantic Coast Conference teams clinched spots in the 2025 NCAA Women’s Golf Championships after finishing in the top five of their respective regionals. The NCAA Championships are scheduled for May 16-21 at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, California.
As the only conference to capture multiple regionals, ACC schools won three of the six regional titles this week, as Florida State, Stanford and Wake Forest each claimed victories at their respective sites. Also qualifying was Virginia, which tied for third at the Charlottesville Regional. Additionally, NC State’s Marie Madsen won the individual title at the Charlottesville Regional with a 5-under 208 and will also compete in next week’s NCAA Championships.
Florida State finished at 15-under (849) at the Lexington Regional at Keene Trace Golf Club, led by Lottie Woad and Mirabel Ting, who tied for second place at 10-under (206). Teammate Kaylah Williams also turned in a top-20 finish, as she tied for 18th at even par (216). This marks the Seminoles’ ninth consecutive trip to the NCAA Championships, where they look to return to the match-play round after missing the quarterfinals last season.
Stanford cruised to a team title at the Normal Regional, as the Cardinal finished at 23-under (841), nine shots ahead of second-place Northwestern. Four of the five Stanford players in the lineup finished in the top 10, led by Andrea Revuelta, who won the individual title at 8-under (208). Revuelta has now won back-to-back medalist honors after winning the ACC Championship on April 17 at Sedgefield Country Club. ACC Freshman of the Year Meja Örtengren (210, -6) finished third, while Megha Ganne and Paula Martín Sampedro tied for eighth at 214 (-2). The win was Stanford’s seventh regional title since 2016.
Wake Forest was the only team to finish under par at the Lubbock Regional, as the Demon Deacons closed the regional at 2-under, four shots ahead of second-place Texas. Carolina Chacarra led the Demon Deacons with a 7-under (209) to claim medalist honors, finishing three shots ahead of Texas’ Farah O’Keefe. Chloe Kovelesky carded a 2-under (214) for third place, while Anne-Sterre Den Dunnen tied for eighth at 2-over (218). This marks Wake Forest’s 10th consecutive NCAA Championships appearance, including the program’s first national title in 2023.
Virginia earned a third-place finish in the Charlottesville Regional, led by Megan Propeck, who tied for fourth at even par (213). The Cavaliers advance to their 15th NCAA Championship appearance in the program’s 22-year history.
Madsen, ranked No. 31 in the latest Scoreboard rankings entering regionals, finished at 5-under (208) and edged second-place Paula Francisco of Florida by a shot to win the individual title at the Charlottesville Regional. The freshman becomes the first-ever NC State player to win a regional and the second player in school history to qualify as an individual (Lauren Doughtie in 2008).
Stroke play at the NCAA Women’s Golf Championships begins Friday, May 16. After three rounds, the field of 30 teams will be cut to 15 teams for the final round of stroke play. The top eight teams in that final round advance to the match play. Current ACC members have won the last three national championships, with Stanford winning in 2022 and 2024, and Wake Forest in 2023.
