CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – California graduate forward Luka Lukic earned Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week honors, while Virginia Tech senior goalkeeper Sam Joseph notched ACC Defensive Player of the Week for matches played in the first week of the season, from August 21-24, it was announced Tuesday.
Luka Lukic, Gr., F, California (Belgrade, Serbia)
• Lukic scored three goals in road wins over Saint Mary’s and UCLA.
• The graduate transfer from UC Riverside made an immediate impact, scoring Cal's first two goals of the season in a 3-2 win at Saint Mary’s on Thursday, August 21.
• He scored the game winner in the final minute of a 1-0 victory at UCLA on Sunday, August 24, on a header off a corner kick.
Sam Joseph, Sr., GK, Virginia Tech (San Diego, Calif.)
• Joseph collected two shutouts in his debut for Virginia Tech as the Hokies posted wins over No. 3 Ohio State and Canisius.
• He totaled five saves for the week, including three in the season-opening 1-0 upset of the No. 3 Buckeyes.
• The senior recorded two saves to keep the net empty against Canisius on Sunday.
Men’s Soccer Notes
• Through the first five days of the season, ACC teams have combined for a 21-3-4 record (.821 winning percentage).

League teams have outscored their opponents 54-20 through 28 matches.
