Louisville’s Geigle, Virginia’s Safradin Named ACC Women’s Soccer Players of the Week

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – Louisville senior forward Mackenzie Geigle has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Offensive Player of the Week, while Virginia junior goalkeeper Victoria Safradin was selected as the Defensive Player of the Week for matches played August 18-24.

  • Tallied three goals and two assists in victories over Detroit Mercy (8-0) and Wright State (7-2).
  • Her three goals scored were the most by an ACC player last week.
  • Scored twice against Detroit Mercy for her third career multi-goal performance and first since October 20, 2024, versus California.
  • Becomes Louisville’s first ACC Offensive Player of the Week honoree since Emma Hiscock on October 31, 2023.
Victoria Safradin, Jr., GK, Virginia (Eastlake, Ohio)
  • Recorded two clean sheets in wins over Xavier (3-0) and Liberty (2-0).
  • Posted her season high with six saves in Thursday’s victory over Xavier, her most since September 22, 2024, against Notre Dame.
  • Added three saves in the win at Liberty.
  • Has yet to allow a goal this season in her 270 minutes between the posts.
  • Dating back to last season, has not allowed a goal in over 465 minutes of action.
  • Her 11 career shutouts are tied for the eighth-most in program history.

  • ACC teams have combined for 42 non-conference victories this season, the most of any conference.
  • Excluding non-conference matches between ACC teams, the league’s .807 winning percentage leads the nation.
  • ACC teams have combined for a 7-6-2 record against Power Four opponents.
  • At home, ACC teams are a combined 31-4-1 in non-conference play.
