Seven ACC Stars Named to 2025 Walter Camp Player of the Year Preseason Watch List

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – The Atlantic Coast Conference continues to be well-represented on the national preseason watch lists this fall, as seven standout student-athletes have been named to the Walter Camp 2025 Player of the Year Preseason Watch List, as announced today by the Walter Camp Football Foundation.

One of the most prestigious honors in college football, the Walter Camp Player of the Year Award, presented by Crabtree Lexus of New Haven, is the fourth-oldest individual award in the sport. Voted on by FBS head coaches and sports information directors, it recognizes the very best player in the nation each season.

This year’s preseason watch list features 46 elite players from across the country, including 38 offensive stars and eight defensive standouts, representing 37 schools across 11 conferences (plus independents).

Earlier this summer, the Foundation announced its 2025 preseason All-American teams. Walter Camp is the nation’s oldest and most prestigious collegiate football All-America team and was first selected in 1889.

Considered the “Father of American Football,” Walter Camp introduced the play from scrimmage, set plays, the numerical assessment of goals and tries, and the restriction of play to eleven men per side in 1880. Nine years later, Mr. Camp, then the Yale University head coach, selected the first-ever college football All-America team. The Walter Camp Football Foundation – a New Haven-based all-volunteer group – was founded in 1967 to perpetuate the ideals of Camp and to continue the tradition of selecting annually an All-America team. The Walter Camp Foundation is a member of the National College Football Awards Association (NCFAA), which encompasses college football’s most prestigious awards. The NCFAA’s 25 awards have honored more than 950 recipients since 1935. Visit NCFAA.org for more information.
