CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) - A busy weekend of league play in Atlantic Coast Conference Men's Soccer begins on Friday, September 19. The weekend slate of seven conference matches includes a matchup between top-ranked Wake Forest and Virginia at 7 p.m. Friday on ACC Network.
Noting ACC Men's Soccer
• ACC teams have combined for a 47-14-15 record in non-conference play (.717 win percentage, best of any league).
• Through two weeks of league play, only two of the 12 matches have been decided by more than one goal (Cal 2, at BC 0; ND 2, at Pitt 0), including five ties. At 1-0 in ACC play, Notre Dame is the only ACC team that could still get the full six points out of its first two league matches.
• Road teams are 5-2-5 in the first two weeks of conference play.
• Six ACC teams are ranked in the United Soccer Coaches Poll, including the top three teams: Wake Forest (1), NC State (2), Stanford (3), Louisville (12), Clemson (14) and Duke (19). Both totals are the most of any league.
• With its highest-ever national ranking, NC State joins Portland and Utah Valley as the lone teams nationally that have yet to concede a goal this season. The Wolfpack ranks first nationally goal differential (+23) and is tied for the national lead in total goals (23).
• This is Week 3 of nine weekends of conference play. Pitt has the ACC bye this week and plays at Maryland on Friday in non-conference action.
• Five ACC standouts were named to the Men’s Hermann Trophy Watch List: Ransford Gyan (Clemson), Ulfur Bjornsson (Duke), Luca Nikolai (UNC), Casper Svendby (Pitt) and Cooper Flax (Wake Forest).
• ACC teams have won 20 NCAA men’s soccer championships, with 11 since 2001, including three of the last four (Clemson 2021 & 2023, Syracuse 2022). Eight active ACC programs have won at least one national championship, the most of any conference. The 15 active ACC schools have combined for 20 titles.
• At least one ACC team has reached the Men's College Cup in 22 of the last 24 seasons. Thirteen of the 15 active ACC programs have reached the College Cup. Sixty-five ACC teams have reached the College Cup all-time.
