ACC Collects National Weekly Honors After Strong Week 1 Performances

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – Following an exciting Week 1 of the 2025 college football season, the Atlantic Coast Conference was well-represented in this week’s slate of national awards, with student-athletes and coaches from California, Florida State, Georgia Tech and Miami earning top honors.
 
  • Tommy Castellanos, Florida State – Davey O’Brien National Quarterback of the Week
  • Haynes King, Georgia Tech – The Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award and Maxwell National Player of the Week
  • Luke Petitbon, Florida State – Outland Trophy National Player of the Week
  • Jaron-Keawe Sagapolutele, California – Shaun Alexander Freshman Player of the Week
  • Mike Norvell, Florida State – Paul “Bear” Bryant National Coach of the Week and Dodd Trophy Coach of the Week
  • Florida State – Pop-Tarts Crazy Good Team of the Week
  • CJ Daniels, Miami “one-handed catch” – Cheez-It Crunch Time Play of the Week
 
The ACC enters Week 2 with momentum after recording two top-10 wins during the opening weekend, marking just the second time since 1980 that a conference has achieved that feat.
 
All 17 Atlantic Coast Conference football teams will be in action this weekend as Week 2 features a full slate of 16 non-conference matchups. The weekend begins Friday night when Louisville hosts James Madison, before continuing with 15 games across a packed Saturday schedule.
