Notre Dame’s Hidalgo, Duke’s Roberson Named ACC Women’s Basketball Players of the Week

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – Notre Dame junior Hannah Hidalgo has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week, while Duke center Arianna Roberson earned ACC Rookie of the Week honors for games played January 5-11.

ACC women’s basketball weekly honors are nominated by member schools and determined by a vote of the Blue Ribbon Panel.

PLAYER – Hannah Hidalgo, Jr., G, Notre Dame (Merchantville, New Jersey)
  • Averaged 23.5 points, 6.0 rebounds, 5.5 assists and 6.5 steals in a pair of ACC wins over Boston College (94-60) and No. 22 North Carolina (73-50).
  • Posted 16 points, five assists and six steals in Thursday’s win over the Eagles.
  • On Sunday against the Tar Heels, Hidalgo became just the second player this season at the Division I level to post 30 points, six rebounds, six assists and six steals in a game and the only player to do so against a ranked opponent.
  • Finished the week 19-for-37 (51.4 percent) from the field and 9-for-10 from the free throw line.
ROOKIE – Arianna Roberson, Fr., C, Duke (San Antonio, Texas)
  • Averaged 13.0 points, 7.0 rebounds, 2.5 steals and 1.5 assists in a sweep of the West Coast, defeating California (78-74) and Stanford (67-60).
  • Registered her first 20-point game with 20 points, eight rebounds and a career-high three steals in the win over the Golden Bears.
  • Against the Cardinal, she posted six points, six rebounds and a career-high two assists in just 14 minutes.
  • Closed the week 10-for-16 (62.5 percent) shooting and a perfect 5-for-5 from the free throw line.

  • ACC teams have accumulated 144 non-conference victories this season.
  • ACC teams have played 30 games against teams ranked in the Associated Press (AP) Poll (31 against teams inside the USA Today Coaches Poll), the most among peer power conferences.
  • A total of 10 ACC teams are in the latest NET, headlined by No. 11 Louisville, No. 21 Duke and No. 23 Notre Dame.
