CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – Five standouts from Clemson led the way for the Atlantic Coast Conference’s Indoor Track & Field Performers of the Week, announced Tuesday. The Tigers’ standouts were joined by Louisville’s Miller Jones, who was tabbed the ACC Men’s Indoor Field Athlete of the Week.
ACC Men’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week
Grant Holliday, Clemson, So. (Greenville, S.C.)
- Placed fourth in the Clemson Invitational’s 300-meter race with a time of 32.64 seconds.
- He now ranks second in Clemson history in the event.
- Also placed second in the 600-meter event, clocking in at 1:16.55
- His 600-meter time ranks third in program history.
ACC Men’s Indoor Field Athlete of the Week
Miller Jones, Louisville, Jr. (Grand Junction, Colo.)
- Earned a pair of third-place finishes at the Rod McCravy Memorial Invitational in the triple jump and long jump.
- Posted a personal-best of 15.76m (51-8.5) in the triple jump.
- His triple jump mark ranks sixth nationally and leads the ACC thus far this season.
- Also recorded an ACC-best mark of 7.33m (24-0.75) in the long jump.
ACC Men’s Indoor Track & Field Freshman of the Week
Brayden Tidwell, Clemson, Fr. (Atlanta, Ga.)
- Placed third in the Clemson Invitational men’s 200-meter dash with a time of 21.53 seconds.
- His time is tied for 37th nationally and fifth in the ACC.
- His mark ranks sixth nationally among freshmen.
ACC Women’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week
Gladys Chepngetich, Clemson, Junior (Eldoret, Kenya)
- Broke her own school record in the 600 meters with a time of 1:26.66.
- Took first place at the Clemson Invitational.
- Also ran a leg in the 4x400-meter relay, which saw Clemson post a time of 3:39.98.
- The relay time is tied for 14th nationally and ranks second in the ACC.
ACC Women’s Indoor Field Athlete of the Week
Shantae Foreman, Clemson, Grad., (St. Thomas, Jamaica)
- Posted the second-best mark in the nation in the long jump, leaping 6.50m (21-1.75).
- Her mark ranks second on Clemson’s all-time list and is a new personal best.
- Also added strong performances on the track in the 200-meter and 4x400-meter relay events.
ACC Women’s Indoor Track & Field Freshman of the Week
Kimeka Smith, Clemson, Fr. (St. Catherine, Jamaica)
- Set the Clemson freshman record in the shot put with a mark of 15.98m (52-5.25).
- Her mark now ranks fifth in school history.
- This season, Smith leads the ACC and ranks 13th nationally.
- She won her second ACC Women’s Indoor Track & Field Freshman of the Week honor of the season.
