No. 10 Miami and No. 1 Indiana will play for the College Football Playoff National Championship on Monday at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida. Both programs have been among the nation’s most successful over the past two seasons, with Indiana posting a .920 winning percentage (23-2) and Miami a .821 mark (23-5).

The all-time series between the two programs is tied 1-1, with the teams not having faced each other since the 1960s.

Miami enters the national championship riding a seven-game winning streak following an overtime road loss at SMU on November 1, 2025. The Hurricanes reached the semifinals with dominant performances, holding No. 7 Texas A&M to just 10 points in the first round and No. 2 Ohio State to 14 points in the quarterfinals of the Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic, before edging No. 6 Ole Miss 31-27 in the Vrbo Fiesta Bowl semifinal.

Miami has seven wins over AP Top 25 foes, most by any ACC team in a season all-time, with the chance for an eighth with a win over No. 1 Indiana. The only teams to have more in a single season are Alabama (9 in 2016, 8 in 2015) and LSU (8 in 2011).

Miami’s defense, which has recorded 47 sacks and 16 interceptions, ranks among the nation’s elite in nearly every statistical category, including scoring defense, rushing defense, takeaways, defensive touchdowns and red-zone defense. The Hurricanes’ offense has also been efficient and balanced, ranking in the top 30 nationally in completion percentage, first downs, time of possession, scoring, passing efficiency, and third- and fourth-down conversions.

Notably, Miami became only the third school in the past 30 seasons, joining Clemson (2016 and 2018) and Georgia Tech (2016), to record three wins over SEC programs in the same year, defeating Florida, Texas A&M and Ole Miss.

Indiana, the lone undefeated team in FBS at 15-0, has dominated under head coach Curt Cignetti, posting a 23-2 record over the past two seasons. The Hoosiers boast the largest average scoring margin in college football this season at +28.6 points per game and advanced to the national championship with decisive wins over No. 9 Alabama (38-3) in the quarterfinals and No. 5 Oregon (56-22) in the semifinals.

Indiana’s defense has forced multiple turnovers in 10 games this season, and the team has recorded 12 wins by double digits. The Hoosiers’ offense ranks among the top 25 nationally in nearly every key category, including scoring, completion percentage, passing efficiency, first downs, third-down conversions and red-zone efficiency, while their defense is similarly elite, ranking top 10 nationally in scoring defense, sacks, tackles-for-loss, takeaways and turnover margin.
