Stanford's Elia Rubin Headlines 2025 Volleyball All-ACC Academic Team

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) - Stanford’s Elia Rubin was named the Atlantic Coast Conference 2025 Volleyball Scholar-Athlete of the Year and headlines the sport’s All-ACC Academic Team, the league announced on Wednesday.

The reigning ACC Volleyball Co-Scholar Athlete of the Year is a senior outside hitter studying Science, Technology & Society at Stanford. Rubin is a three-time Academic All-Conference (2023, 2024, 2025), three-time CSC Academic All-District (2023, 2024, 2025) and a 2025 First-Team CSC Academic All-American selection after being named to the second team in 2024.

Rubin closed out the 2025 season with a team-leading 393 kills (3.33 kills per set) and 46 service aces. Defensively, she recorded 309 digs (2.62 digs per set) and 58.0 total blocks. She also led Stanford in double-doubles (13), points (471.0) and points per set (3.99). The Santa Monica, California, native became just the 11th player in program history to register both 1,000 career kills and 1,000 career digs. Rubin was a semifinalist for the 2025 AVCA Player of the Year, named a member of the 2025 All-ACC First-Team and was tabbed a 2025 First-Team AVCA All-American. She was drafted to the San Diego Mojo in the 2025 Major League Volleyball (MLV) Draft, becoming just the third Cardinal in program history to be drafted into the league.

Fifteen student-athletes who earned All-ACC first or second team honors this season also secured spots on the academic team, highlighted by SMU’s Averi Carlson, the 2025 ACC Setter of the Year. All 18 ACC volleyball programs are represented on the All-ACC Academic Team, with NC State leading the conference with eight student-athletes and followed by Clemson, Duke, Louisville, Notre Dame, Pitt and Stanford with seven apiece. Boston College, California, Virginia and Virginia Tech each added six players to the list.

The ACC Scholar-Athlete of the Year awards were established in September of 2007 to be awarded annually to the top junior or senior student-athlete in their respective sports. Candidates for the awards must have maintained a 3.0-grade point average for their careers, as well as a 3.0 for each of the last two semesters.

Academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team include a 3.0-grade point average for the previous two semesters, a 3.0 cumulative average during one’s academic career, has to have been enrolled at the institution for at least one year, and the student must be classified as an undergraduate student. In addition, student-athletes must compete in at least 50 percent of their team’s athletic contests.
