CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – Virginia Tech’s Aaron Seidel was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Wrestler of the Week for competition in Week Nine of the 2025-26 season, it was announced on Tuesday.
Aaron Seidel, Fr., 133 pounds, Virginia Tech (Fredricksburg, Pennsylvania)
- Made a dominant collegiate debut, winning all five bouts by fall or technical fall to claim the 133-pound title and earn Most Outstanding Wrestler honors at the Midlands Championships.
- The true freshman opened the tournament with a 2:24 fall over Illinois’ Joey Ruzic after building a 3-0 lead.
- Followed with a 16-1 technical fall (2:58) against Northwestern’s Massey Odiotti to advance to the quarterfinals.
- In a marquee matchup, Seidel overwhelmed No. 20 Dylan Shawver of Rutgers — a Big Ten champion and All-American — with two takedowns and three near-fall sequences in a 17-0 tech fall (5:26).
- Added another technical fall against No. 25 Marcel Lopez (SIUE) 16-1 in 4:05.
- Capped the tournament with a 4:59 fall over two-time U23 World Champion Reineri Ortega to secure the championship.
