ACC Football Week 6 Features Seven-Game Weekend Slate

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – Atlantic Coast Conference football enters Week 6 with seven games on the schedule, beginning Friday night when Florida State travels to Louisville for a primetime matchup on ESPN.
 
Saturday features five conference matchups across three broadcast windows, highlighted by North Carolina visiting No. 25 Pitt at noon on ESPN and Duke traveling to Georgia Tech at 3:30 p.m. on ESPN2. The weekend also includes a pair of cross-country matchups, with Virginia Tech visiting California and Stanford traveling to No. 3 Notre Dame, before Syracuse and Virginia close out the ACC slate Saturday night in Charlottesville.
 
The ACC enters Week 6 with three undefeated teams in Miami, Duke and Pitt, tied for the most of any FBS conference.
 
The league continues to build strong resumes across the board, with Miami, Pitt and Wake Forest among just eight FBS teams with three or more Power Four wins this season. Miami, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest are also three of only seven teams nationally with multiple Power Four road wins, with Miami leading the FBS with three.
 
The ACC continues to showcase its depth on both sides of the ball, with 11 teams ranked in ESPN’s FPI Top 50 and nine in the Top 50 of ESPN’s Strength of Record.

Three ACC Unbeatens
  • Miami (5-0), Duke (4-0) and 24 Pitt (5-0) remain undefeated.
    • The ACC’s three unbeaten teams are tied for the most of any FBS conference.
  • Miami and Pitt are two of only 10 FBS teams sitting at 5-0.
  • The three teams are a combined 14-0 this season.
 
ACC Depth Runs Deep
  • The ACC has 11 teams in ESPN’s FPI Top 50, tied for the second-most of any conference.
  • Nearly two-thirds of the league (64.7%) is represented in the FPI Top 50.
  • Seven ACC teams rank in the FPI Top 40, led by No. 5 Miami.
  • The ACC also has nine teams in ESPN’s Top 50 Strength of Record.
  • Miami (No. 4), Pitt (No. 9), Wake Forest (No. 17) and Duke (No. 21) all rank in the SOR Top 25.
 
Power Four Winners
  • Only eight FBS teams have recorded at least three Power Four wins this season.
    • Three are from the ACC: Miami, Pitt and Wake Forest.
    • No other conference has more than three teams on the list.

Winning on the Road
  • Only seven FBS teams have multiple road wins over Power Four opponents this season.
    • Three are from the ACC: Miami, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest.
  • Miami leads the entire FBS with three Power Four road victories.
  • Virginia Tech has won at Maryland and Boston College.
  • Wake Forest owns road wins at Purdue and then-No. 16 Louisville.
 
ACC Conference of Quarterbacks
  • ACC quarterbacks have produced an FBS-leading 22 300-yard passing games.
    • That is seven more than the next-closest conference.
  • The ACC also leads the FBS with seven 400-yard passing performances.
    • Those seven 400-yard games are more than all other conferences combined.
  • Eight ACC quarterbacks rank among ESPN’s Top 40 in Total QBR.
  • Six ACC quarterbacks rank among the nation’s top 20 in passing efficiency.
 
Mensah’s Historic Start
  • Miami QB Darian Mensah leads the FBS in completion percentage (84.2%) and passing efficiency (212.2).
  • Mensah has thrown 15 touchdowns without an interception through five games.
  • He is one of seven FBS quarterbacks this century with 15+ TD passes and zero interceptions through five games.
  • Mensah is the only Division I or NFL player in the last 30 seasons with at least 15 TD passes and an 84% completion percentage through five team games.
  • He also ranks No. 2 nationally in ESPN Total QBR (92.0) and No. 3 in yards per attempt (10.81).
 
Sheppard Setting the Pace
  • Duke RB Nate Sheppard leads the FBS with 161.0 rushing yards per game.
  • He also leads the nation in all-purpose yards per game (178.5) and scoring (13.5 ppg).
  • Sheppard has 644 rushing yards and nine total touchdowns through four games.
  • He has rushed for at least 100 yards and a touchdown in all four games.
    • That streak is tied for the second-longest to begin an ACC season since at least 1996.
 
Explosive Playmakers
  • The ACC leads the FBS with 22 300-yard passing performances.
  • The league also leads with seven 400-yard passing performances.
  • ACC players have recorded 31 100-yard rushing games, tied for the most of any conference.
  • The ACC has had 23 different 100-yard rushers, the most among all FBS conferences.
    • That is the ACC’s most different 100-yard rushers through Week 5 over the last 30 seasons.
  • The ACC has the most offensive “big plays” with 613 – 321 passes of 20+ yards and 292 rushes of 12+ yards).
 
Close Calls in ACC Play
  • Eight ACC conference games have been decided by one possession (eight points or fewer).
    • That is tied for the most of any FBS conference.
  • Five ACC games have been decided by three points or fewer.
    • That is three more such games than any other FBS conference.
  • The close finishes come as the ACC transitions to its expanded nine-game conference schedule in 2026.
 
Tested Against the Best
  • The ACC has played an FBS-high 16 non-conference games against Power Four teams + Notre Dame through Week 5.
  • Nine of the ACC’s 16 contests have been played away from ACC home stadiums.
    • That includes six true road games and three neutral-site contests.
  • ACC teams have earned six non-conference P4 + Notre Dame victories, second-most among the Power Four conferences.
 
Built for Power Four Competition
  • All 17 ACC programs are scheduled to play at least 10 games against ACC/Power Four competition in 2026.
  • Boston College, Georgia Tech and Louisville are three of only five FBS teams scheduled for 11+ games vs. Power Four + Notre Dame.
  • The ACC is the only Power Four conference with all of its teams scheduled for 10+ such games.
 
ACC Offenses Lighting Up the Scoreboard
  • 10 different ACC teams have scored at least 56 points in a game this season.
    • That is already more than the seven ACC teams that reached 56 points during the entire 2025 season.
  • More than half of the ACC’s 17 programs have already produced a 56-point performance.

 Enhanced Replay Access Expands
  • The ACC continues to expand Enhanced Replay Access in 2026, giving audiences greater access to real-time replay discussions during broadcasts.

  • The ACC will play a record 15 Friday games in 2026, including nine over the season's first six weeks.
  • Friday night football continues throughout October and November, culminating with Florida at Florida State on Black Friday.
