CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – North Carolina senior forward Joschi Schelb was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, while Virginia Tech sophomore goalkeeper Diego Dauzier claimed ACC Defensive Player of the Week honors for matches played from September 28-October 4, as announced Tuesday.
 
OFFENSIVE – Joschi Schelb, Sr., F, North Carolina (Freiburg, Germany)
• Totaled three goals and an assist in wins over West Florida and Boston College.
• Notched his first brace in a 3-1 win over Boston College on Saturday.
• Posted a goal and an assist in UNC's 2-0 win over West Florida on Wednesday.
 
DEFENSIVE – Diego Dauzier, So., GK, Virginia Tech (Montclair, N.J.)
• Made six saves in Virginia Tech's 2-1 win at Virginia Friday.
• Recorded his fourth match this season with six or more saves in a game, including his second against an ACC opponent
• His acrobatic efforts helped the Hokies snap their four-match winless streak to Virginia and collect their third win in program history in Charlottesville (first since Nov. 6, 2020).
 
Men’s Soccer Notes
• In the latest NCAA RPI, released Monday, seven ACC teams rank among the top 30: No. 1 Clemson, No. 5 Pitt, No. 6 SMU, No. 16 Louisville, No. 21 Syracuse, No. 26 Notre Dame and No. 30 North Carolina. That is tied for the most of any conference.
• ACC teams are 63-16-14 (.753) against non-conference competition this season. The winning percentage and total number of wins both are the best of any conference.
• SMU (9-0-1) is one of five teams nationally that have yet to lose a match this season. The Mustangs lead the nation in scoring defense (0.3) and has surrendered just three goals this season.
