(theACC.com) – Atlantic Coast Conference football returns to Friday night this week as Florida State travels to Louisville for a 7 p.m. ET matchup on ESPN. The primetime contest opens a seven-game ACC weekend, with six additional games set for Saturday. Saturday’s six-game slate begins at noon ET with North Carolina at No. 25 Pitt on ESPN and Wake Forest at NC State on The CW. Duke visits Georgia Tech on ESPN2, while Virginia Tech travels to California on ACC Network and Stanford faces No. 3 Notre Dame on NBC/Peacock, with all three games set for 3:30 p.m. ET. Florida State leads the all-time series with Louisville 18-6, including a 7-3 advantage in games played at Louisville. The Seminoles have won each of the last two meetings and six of the last 10. The teams last met in the 2023 ACC Football Championship Game in Charlotte, where No. 4 Florida State defeated No. 14 Louisville 16-6 to finish the regular season 13-0. Florida State enters Friday following a 38-7 win over Virginia, piling up 464 yards of offense while limiting the Cavaliers to just 205 total yards. FSU quarterback Ashton Daniels rushed for a school-record five touchdowns against Virginia, matching the ACC single-game record for rushing touchdowns by a quarterback. He finished with 183 passing yards and a career-high 136 rushing yards. Daniels enters Week 6 ranked third nationally with nine rushing touchdowns. His 81-yard touchdown run against Virginia was the second-longest rush by a quarterback in Florida State history. Florida State recorded 10 sacks against Virginia, its most in a game since 1989, while holding the Cavaliers to just 37 rushing yards on 40 attempts. Louisville's three losses have each come by exactly three points, including last week's 31-28 setback at NC State. The Cardinals have outscored their opponents overall despite entering Friday at 2-3. Louisville averages 198.6 rushing yards per game, while Florida State is right behind at 194.0 yards per contest, giving Friday's matchup two of the ACC's more productive rushing attacks. The Cardinals enter Friday averaging 486.0 yards and 38.6 points per game, including 287.4 passing yards and 198.6 rushing yards per contest. Louisville quarterback Lincoln Kienholz has thrown for 1,394 yards with nine touchdowns against just one interception through five games while completing 69.1 percent of his passes.
