DURHAM, N.C. (theACC.com) – Duke earned the 2026 Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s Fencing Team Championship on Day 2 of the ACC Fencing Championships, which were held on Sunday, February 22, at Duke’s Cameron Indoor Stadium in Durham, North Carolina. The championship came down to a fence-off after Boston College and Duke each finished with identical 3-1 records in the team competition, and the Blue Devils won their foil and sabre bouts to clinch the title.

Duke won its third ACC Men’s Fencing Championship (2018, 2021) and its first under head coach Omar Elgeziry.

The day started with the women’s individual competition, where Notre Dame, after rolling to the women’s team title on Saturday, February 21, wrapped up a big weekend by capturing six of the nine podium finishes, including a pair of championships on Sunday.

North Carolina freshman Youssef Shamel (epee) was named the men’s Most Valuable Fencer of the Championships after winning the epee individual championship and posting a strong day in the team competition. Notre Dame junior Chelsea Delsoin (sabre) was selected the women’s Most Valuable Fencer of the Championships after notching the sabre individual crown today and contributing to the Fighting Irish’s team championship on Saturday. Both awards were selected by a vote of the head coaches.

The fence-off, like much of the competition throughout the day on Sunday, was tight. The Blue Devils’ Ethan Boroditsky prevailed, 5-4, over BC’s Daniel Gao in epee, and Biko Tolba downed Yikai Lu, 5-3, in foil. BC’s Berman downed Lev Ermakov in sabre.

North Carolina and Notre Dame tied for third place with 2-2 records in the team competition, while Stanford placed fifth with an 0-4 record.

In the women’s individual competition, Notre Dame won two gold medals and picked up six medals overall, with two at each weapon. Boston College, North Carolina and Stanford each earned one medal.

In the epee final, North Carolina freshman Zoe Kim downed Nicole Milewski of North Carolina, 15-11. Reigning national champion Arianna Cao of Stanford claimed the foil crown, topping ND’s Hailey Eyer, 15-10. Delsoin then outlasted teammate Magda Skarbonkiewicz, the reigning national champion, 15-14, to win the sabre crown.
