CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – North Carolina senior guard Seth Trimble earned Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week honors, and Stanford guard Ebuka Okorie earned Rookie of the Week honors for games played from February 23-March 1, as announced Monday.
ACC men’s basketball weekly honors are nominated by the respective schools and determined by a vote of an 18-member media panel.
Okorie notched ACC Rookie of the Week honors for the third time this season.
Seth Trimble, Sr., G, North Carolina (Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin)
• Averaged 25.0 points, 4.0 assists and 3.0 rebounds in UNC’s wins over No. 24 Louisville and Virginia Tech.
• Scored a career-high 30 points and led UNC with four assists in the 77-74 win over Louisville.
• The 30-point effort against Louisville is the most by a Tar Heel this season and was the first 30-point game by a Tar Heel in two seasons.
• It was the second time this season and in his career that he scored 20 or more points in consecutive games.
• Was 11-for-16 from the floor against the Cardinals.
• Scored 20 points vs. the Hokies on 7-for-12 shooting and led UNC again with four assists.
• Scored 27 of his 50 points in the two games in the second half (14 vs. Louisville and 13 against Virginia Tech).
Ebuka Okorie, Fr., G, Stanford (Nashua, New Hampshire)
• Averaged 28.0 points, 3.5 rebounds, 6.0 assists and 2.5 steals in Stanford's wins over Pitt and SMU.
• Shot 59 percent from the field, 50 percent from 3-point range and 95 percent from the free-throw line.
• Tallied his ACC-leading sixth 30-point game of the season with 34 points against Pitt. It was his nation-leading 13th game with 25 or more points.
• Scored 28 points in the second half and scored or assisted on 37 of Stanford's final 43 points in the victory.
• Scored 22 points with six assists in a 95-75 win over SMU, becoming the 13th player in Stanford history to reach 600 points in a season.
• Took the ACC lead in scoring per game, both overall (22.74) and in the league (22.69), and currently ranks fifth nationally in scoring per game.
