NC State Wins 2026 ACC Women’s Tennis Championship

CARY, N.C. (theACC.com) – No. 3 seed NC State captured the 2026 Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Tennis Championship on Sunday with a dominant 4-0 victory over No. 1 seed Virginia at Cary Tennis Park.

No. 13 NC State (22-7, 10-2 ACC), which upended No. 2 seed North Carolina in the semifinals, claimed its second ACC title (2023, 2026), both under head coach Simon Earnshaw. With the win, the Wolfpack improved to 2-0 in ACC championship final appearances.

No. 7 Virginia (21-5, 12-0 ACC), which defeated NC State 4-2 in Charlottesville on April 12 in the final match of the regular season to clinch the ACC regular-season title, finished as the runner-up for the third straight year and the fourth time in the last five seasons.

The Wolfpack set the tone early by securing the doubles point in tightly contested action. Virginia struck first with a 6-1 win at the court No. 2 from No. 27 Martina Genis Salas and Annabelle Xu, but NC State responded at the top flight as the No. 4 duo of Gabriella Broadfoot and Victoria Osuigwe defeated No. 8 Melodie Collard and Vivian Yang, 6-4. The doubles point came down to court No. 3, where Mia Slama and Lavinia Tanasie delivered a 6-4 victory to give NC State a 1-0 lead.

NC State carried that momentum into singles play, winning all three completed matches in straight sets to clinch the championship. Osuigwe extended the lead to 2-0 with a 6-3, 6-2 win over No. 122 Genis Salas on court No. 5.

The Wolfpack moved within one point of the title as No. 52 Anna Zyryanova defeated No. 29 Xu, 6-3, 6-2, on court No. 2 to make it 3-0.

No. 43 Slama sealed the championship on court No. 1, overcoming a competitive first set in a tiebreak before pulling away for a 7-6 (4), 6-2 victory over No. 61 Yang, clinching the fourth and decisive point.

Slama was named the Most Valuable Player for the championship.
