WILMINGTON, N.C. (theACC.com) – For the first time in program history, top-seeded Stanford won the 2026 ACC Women’s Golf Championship, defeating second-seeded SMU, 3-0, in the match play final Sunday at Porters Neck Country Club.
Entering the postseason as the No. 1 team in the latest Women’s Golf Coaches Association Poll, the Cardinal claimed the first three matches on the course to seal the championship. Stanford became the second straight first-time winner of the ACC women’s golf crown after Florida State won its first-ever title a season ago.
Stanford set the tone early, with all five players winning the opening hole, and the Cardinal led in all five matches at the turn. The first Stanford win came from Meja Örtengren, who knocked off SMU’s Grace Jin 4&3 in the first pairing.
The second point came from Megha Ganne, who took a commanding 3UP lead after nine holes and finished with a 3&2 win over SMU’s Mackenzie Lee. Stanford’s Paula Martín Sampedro, who won the individual championship, wrapped up the team title in the final pairing with a 4&3 win over SMU’s Emily Odwin.
Stanford and the rest of the ACC will now await the NCAA Selection Show set for Wednesday, April 29, at 1 p.m. ET on Golf Channel.
