CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – Virginia senior attackman Truitt Sunderland earned Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week honors, while Duke senior defenseman Charlie Johnson picked up ACC Defensive Player of the Week recognition for games played from April 20-26 during the final week of the regular season.
Heading into the 2026 Allstate ACC Men’s Lacrosse Championship this weekend, all five ACC teams are ranked in the USILA Coaches Poll, with Notre Dame headlining the poll at No. 1, followed by North Carolina at No. 5, Syracuse at No. 6, Virginia at No. 8 and Duke at No. 12.
The ACC Championship will be held Friday, May 1, and Sunday, May 3, at American Legion Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina. In the Friday semifinals, No. 1 seed Notre Dame plays No. 4 seed Virginia at 5 p.m. ET and No. 2 seed North Carolina takes on No. 3 seed Syracuse at 8 p.m. ET. The winners square off for the championship on Sunday at noon ET. ACC Network has the broadcast of all three games.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF WEEK – Truitt Sunderland, Sr., A, Virginia (Baltimore, Maryland)
• Tallied a career-high 10 points on four goals and six assists in the Cavaliers’ 17-6 win over Drexel on Friday, April 24.
• His six assists also were a career high.
• All 10 of his points came in the first three quarters of play.
• He joined fellow UVA attackman Brendan Millon as the ACC’s only players to tally 10 points in a game this season.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF WEEK – Charlie Johnson, Sr., D, Duke (Riverside, Connecticut)
• Anchored Duke's stellar defensive effort in a 16-12 road win over No. 3 North Carolina on Saturday, April 25.
• Scored his first career goal, while recording two caused turnovers and two ground balls in the winning effort.
• Matched up against North Carolina leading scorer Owen Duffy, holding him to just two goals and an assist and only four shots.
• Duffy's two goals came in the final two minutes of the game as the Tar Heels managed just 37 shots in the game - 12 below their season average coming into the contest.
