Stanford Wins 2026 NCAA Women’s Golf National Championship

CARLSBAD, Calif. (theACC.com) – Top-seeded Stanford swept second-seeded USC, 3-0, in the match play final of the 2026 NCAA Women’s Golf Championship, at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, California, claiming the program’s fourth national championship.

Stanford wins the ACC’s ninth women’s golf national championship, 13th among current conference membership, and the league’s first since Wake Forest won the title in 2023. By advancing to Wednesday’s final, Stanford also extended the streak of current ACC members appearing in the match play final to five consecutive years.

Stanford also became the first team since Duke in 2014 to win both the ACC Championship and the national championship in the same season. The Cardinal are the first ACC team to accomplish that feat in the match-play era.

The title is the ACC’s seventh NCAA championship of the 2025-26 academic year, joining women’s cross country (NC State), women’s soccer (Florida State), women’s swimming & diving (Virginia), men’s fencing (Notre Dame), women’s fencing (Notre Dame) and men’s tennis (Virginia). The championship also marks the conference’s 204th NCAA team championship all time.

The Cardinal jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead as Meja Örtengren cruised to a 6&5 win and ACC Player of the Year Paula Martín Sampedro, earned her third match-play victory of the tournament with a 4&2 triumph. In her final collegiate match, senior Megha Ganne clinched the national title with a 4&3 win against USC’s Bailey Shoemaker. It marked the second time this week that Ganne clinched a match for the Cardinal.
