CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – Following the announcement on June 3 that the 2026 NC State at Virginia football game would be relocated from Brazil to Charlottesville, Virginia, the Atlantic Coast Conference announced today that the Division I Football Bowl Subdivision Oversight Committee has approved a waiver allowing the game to be played during Week 0 of the 2026 season.
As a result, NC State and Virginia will open their seasons on Saturday, August 29, at Scott Stadium in Charlottesville. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m. ET on ESPN.
The waiver approval preserves the original date for the conference matchup after the contest was moved from its previously announced international location. The ACC worked collaboratively with NC State, Virginia, the NCAA and ESPN to maintain the game on the originally scheduled date.
