(theACC.com) - Pitt’s Olivia Babcock was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Offensive Player of the Week, while Louisville’s Payton Petersen was tabbed the ACC Defensive Player of the Week. Pitt’s Izzy Starck was named the ACC Setter of the Week, while Pitt’s Ayanna Watson was named ACC Freshman of the Week following the first week of ACC volleyball action from August 21-24.
ACC OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Olivia Babcock, Sr., RS, Pitt (Los Angeles, California)
- Totaled 39 kills, an average of 5.57 kills per set, in wins over No. 3 Kentucky and Xavier.
- Registered 27 kills on a .339 hitting percentage against the Wildcats.
- Recorded 44.5 total points, an average of 6.36 points per set.
ACC DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Payton Petersen, Jr., L/OH, Louisville (Dike, Iowa)
- Recorded 40 digs and an average of 5.71 digs per set during her first career matches at libero.
- Set a career-high 24 digs in a four-set victory over No. 8 Texas A&M.
- Received 27 serves on the weekend with no reception errors.
ACC SETTER OF THE WEEK
Izzy Starck, Jr., Setter, Pitt (Viera, Florida)
- Recorded 70 assists, an average of 10.00 assists per set, in her debut for the Panthers.
- Totaled 41 assists, 13 digs and five blocks in the upset over No. 3 Kentucky.
- Recorded a double-double in both wins over the Wildcats and Xavier.
ACC FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
Ayanna Watson, Fr., OH, Pitt (Las Vegas, Nevada)
- Recorded 14 kills in her collegiate debut weekend, helping Pitt earn wins over No. 3 Kentucky and Xavier.
- Tallied six kills, two aces and two blocks in the win over the Wildcats before recording eight kills and a .467 hitting percentage in a sweep of Xavier.
