CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) - Week 2 of Atlantic Coast Conference Men's Soccer features a tantalizing matchup between the current No. 1 and 2 teams nationally, as top-ranked Stanford plays host to No. 2 San Diego on Thursday, August 27, at 7 p.m. ET on ACCNX.

ACC Network will feature a pair of upcoming matches. On Sunday, August 30, No. 19 Duke plays host to No. 6 Georgetown at 6 p.m. ET on ACCN. On Monday, August 31, Louisville entertains No. 14 Indiana at 7 p.m. ET on ACCN.

Five ACC teams are ranked in the latest United Soccer Coaches Poll. That is the most of any league: Stanford (No. 1), SMU (No. 5), Clemson (No. 16), Duke (No. 19) and NC State (No. 20).

Noting ACC Men's Soccer
• ACC teams have combined to post a 17-7-5 (.672) record to start the season, including a 4-3-2 record versus ranked teams. 
• League programs already have scored a pair of wins against top-five foes: Clemson vs. No. 3 Furman, SMU at No. 4 Saint Louis.
• Five ACC teams are ranked in the latest United Soccer Coaches Poll: Stanford (1), SMU (5), Clemson (16), Duke (19) and NC State (20). That is the most of any league.
• Stanford took over the No. 1 spot this week and has a showdown at home against No. 2 San Diego on Thursday.
• Clemson’s Xander Sevian earned ACC Offensive Player of the Week honors, while California junior defender Beau Morrison claimed ACC Defensive Player of the Week laurels for matches played from August 20-23.
• NC State has been chosen as the favorite to win the 2026 ACC Championship following a vote of the league’s 15 head coaches. The Wolfpack was picked as the ACC favorite on eight of the coaches’ ballots. (Release)
• A trio of former All-America honorees return this season, with Ransford Gyan (Clemson), Ulfur Bjornsson (Duke) and Stephan Soghomonian (SMU). Gyan was the 2024 ACC Freshman of the Year and the 2025 ACC Midfielder of the Year.
• Nine ACC teams earned berths in the 2025 NCAA Championship, including four teams among the 16 seeded teams. Both totals were most of any league.
• With NC State advancing to the national championship game in 2025, at least one ACC team has reached the Men's College Cup in 23 of the last 25 seasons.
• NC State played in the national championship game for the first time in program history and reached the NCAA College Cup for just the second time (1990).
• Thirteen of the 15 active league programs have reached the Men's College Cup. 
• A record-tying 25 ACC players were chosen in the 2026 MLS SuperDraft, including a record 13 in the first round. Four of the top five selections came from the ACC, including No. 1 pick Nikola Markovic of NC State.
• Six active ACC head coaches have won D-I national championships as a head coach: Mike Noonan (Clemson), Carlos Somoano (UNC), Jay Vidovich (Pitt), Jeremy Gunn (Stanford), Ian McIntyre (Syracuse) and George Gelnovatch (Virginia). NC State's Marc Hubbard won a Division II national title in 2013.
• ACC teams have won 20 NCAA men’s soccer championships, with 11 since 2001, including three of the last five (Clemson 2021, Syracuse 2022, Clemson 2023).
