CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – Wake Forest freshman forward Bianca Rees-Gibbs was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Field Hockey Offensive Player of the Week, while California freshman defender Flore Uges was named the league’s Defensive Player of the Week following games played September 7-14.
ACC OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Bianca Rees-Gibbs, F, Fr., Wake Forest (Bloemfontein, South Africa)
- Helped the Demon Deacons to a 2-0 week with wins over VCU and App State.
- Recorded a hat trick against VCU on Friday, September 11.
- Added two goals against App State on Sunday, September 13.
- Earned eight points over the two-game week.
- Landed 80% of her shots taken on goal throughout the week.
ACC DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Flore Uges, D, Fr., California (Den Haag, The Netherlands)
- Made an impact on both sides of the ball, helping the Golden Bears to a 2-0 week.
- She scored the game-winning goal against No. 8 Michigan – Cal’s highest-ranked road win since 2015.
- Anchored the Cal back line against the Wolverines, holding Michigan to just one penalty corner.
- Once again led Cal defensively on Sunday as the Golden Bears knocked off Michigan State.
- Continues to lead the Golden Bears to their first 5-0 start since 2011.
