CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – Stanford freshman forward Jayden Fitzgerald Boes was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, while Notre Dame fifth-year defender Vlad Walent earned ACC Defensive Player of the Week honors for matches played from September 7-13, as announced Tuesday.
OFFENSIVE – Jayden Fitzgerald Boes, Fr., F, Stanford (Oakland, California)
• Turned in a hat trick in 4-0 victory over CSUN on Monday, scoring in the 11th, 19th and 61st minutes.
• It was Stanford’s first hat trick since 2012.
• He was the first Cardinal freshman to accomplish the feat since Matt Janusz scored all three goals in a 3–1 NCAA Tournament third-round victory over Santa Clara on Nov. 25, 2001.
DEFENSIVE – Vlad Walent, 5th, D, Notre Dame (Lafayette, Colorado)
• Helped guide the Fighting Irish to a 1-0 victory at No. 17 Clemson on Friday night, recording an assist in the win.
• The defender was a key piece in the Irish’s first clean sheet of the season and the first time the ranked Tigers had been shutout in a match in 2026.
• The Irish also held Clemson to just four shots on goal, the fewest number of shots on goal for Clemson this season.
• Walent was a key piece in Notre Dame’s game-winning goal as he delivered a beautiful pass through a pair of defenders to Tristan Tropeano for a goal in the 88th minute.
Men’s Soccer Notes
• Three ACC teams remain unbeaten, with matching 6-0-1 records: Louisville, SMU and Stanford.
• ACC teams are 44-14-13 (.711) against non-conference competition this season. The total of 44 wins is the most of any conference.
• League programs own three wins over top-five teams: Stanford vs. No. 2 San Diego, Clemson vs. No. 3 Furman, SMU at No. 4 Saint Louis.
