ACC Announces Cross Country Performers of the Week

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – Virginia Tech senior Dylan DeCambre was selected as the Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s Cross Country Performer of the Week, while Florida State sophomore Rylee Blade was named the ACC Women’s Cross Country Performer of the Week. Clemson’s Nancy Cherop was tabbed the ACC Women’s Cross Country Freshman of the Week, while Wake Forest’s Daniel Skandera earned ACC Men’s Cross Country Freshman of the Week honors.
 
ACC Men’s Cross Country Performer of the Week
Dylan DeCambre, Sr., Virginia Tech (Hackensack, N.J.)
  • Won the men’s 8k at the Hokie Invitational in a time of 24:23.5.
  • Led the Hokies to a first-place team finish in their home meet.
 
ACC Men’s Cross Country Freshman of the Week
Daniel Skandera, Fr., Wake Forest (Warrior, Ala.)
  • Clocked a 17:56.0 in the men’s 6K at the adidas XC Challenge, good for a sixth-place finish.
  • Helped the Demon Deacons to a first-place finish in his collegiate debut.
 
ACC Women’s Cross Country Performer of the Week
Rylee Blade, So., Florida State (Corona, Calif.)
  • Opened her sophomore season with a win at the Pre-Regional Meet in Tallahassee, Florida.
  • Crossed the finish line in 20:39.2, leading Florida State to a team title with a near-perfect score of 17.
 
ACC Women’s Cross Country Freshman of the Week
Nancy Cherop, Fr., Clemson (Mount Elgon, Kenya)
  • Recorded a fourth-place finish in the women’s 5k at the Southern Showcase in Huntsville, Alabama.
  • Was the first Tiger to cross the finish line in 15:56.2, leading Clemson to a second-place finish.
  • Earned her second ACC Women’s Cross Country Freshman of the Week honor (September 8).
