ACC Once Again Tops All FBS Conferences in 2027 U.S. News & World Report “Best Colleges” Rankings

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – For the 20th consecutive year, the Atlantic Coast Conference leads the way nationally among Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) conferences in the “Best Colleges” rankings released by U.S. News & World Report.
 
The 2027 “Best Colleges” rankings were released on Tuesday, September 22.
 
“ACC institutions are committed to offering every student-athlete an exceptional education while competing at the highest level of collegiate athletics,” said ACC Commissioner Jim Phillips, Ph.D. “The continued recognition of our schools reflects their steadfast pursuit of excellence in the classroom and in competition. The academic mission must always remain central to college athletics, as these experiences help prepare our student-athletes for graduation and success throughout their lives. We are incredibly proud that our institutions collectively continue to set the standard for academic and athletic achievement.”
 
Notable details from this year’s rankings include:
  • The ACC once again boasts the best average ranking among all FBS conferences, with an impressive 50.8 average, outpacing its peers for the 20th straight year.
  • Two ACC institutions rank among the nation’s top 10, making it the only FBS conference with multiple universities in the top 10.
  • Four ACC schools landed in the top 25, more than any other FBS conference.
  • Seven ACC schools are ranked in the top 30, leading all FBS conferences.
  • 15 ACC schools are ranked among the top 75, tied for the most of any FBS conference.
  • 11 of the 18 ACC institutions either maintained or improved their position from last year’s rankings.
