ACC Football Players of the Week for Week 4

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – The Atlantic Coast Conference announced its Football Players of the Week following standout performances in Week 4. The honorees were selected by a vote of a select media panel.
 
QUARTERBACK – Davis Warren, 6th, QB, Stanford (Manhattan Beach, California)
  • Completed 22-of-36 passes for a career-high 396 passing yards with three touchdowns and zero turnovers in the win over Georgia Tech.
  • Has opened the 2026 season with 143 consecutive pass attempts without an interception, the third-longest streak to begin a season in Stanford history.
  • Set a career high in passing yards and threw for three touchdowns for the first time in his career.
  • His 396 passing yards are tied for the 15th-most in a game in Stanford history.
  • His performance marked the 17th time in Cardinal history that a quarterback has accounted for 400 yards of total offense (396 passing, 4 rushing).
  • Connected with Zion Robinson for a 61-yard strike downfield, the longest completion of his career.
 
RUNNING BACK – Jeffrey Overton Jr., So., RB, Virginia Tech (Woodbridge, Virginia)
  • Rushed 25 times for a career-high 209 yards and a touchdown in the win at Boston College.
  • His 76-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter proved to be the game-winning score for the Hokies.
  • Also scored a 2-point conversion and had 19 receiving yards in the conference win.
  • With the win, the Hokies moved to 4-0 for the first time since 2017.
 
OFFENSIVE RECEIVER – Carlos Hernandez, Sr., WR, Wake Forest (Alhambra, California)
  • Logged nine receptions for 194 yards and a touchdown in Wake Forest’s 30-27 road win over No. 16 Louisville.
  • Became the first player in program history to record multiple 190-plus-yard receiving performances, joining a 197-yard outing he had against Delaware last year.
  • Marked his second 100-yard receiving performance this season and the fourth of his career.
  • Recorded 119 yards after catch, highlighted by a 77-yard touchdown connection with quarterback Gio Lopez in the second quarter.
  • The 77-yard touchdown was his second-longest reception this year behind only a 78-yard touchdown against Akron in the season opener.
  • Along with his 77-yard touchdown, also recorded receptions of 48 and 31 yards.
  • Currently one of only five Power 4 wide receivers with 500-plus receiving yards this season.
  • Ranks fifth nationally in receiving yards (516) and is tied for seventh in receptions (30).
 
OFFENSIVE LINEMAN – Teague Andersen, 5th, C, NC State (Lehi, Utah)
  • Started at center for the Wolfpack in the 41-31 win over App State.
  • Made just his second career start at center after moving from tackle due to injuries along the NC State offensive line.
  • Graded out a team-high 93 percent, tallying five pancake blocks and six Raleigh Railroads while playing a career-high 83 snaps.
  • Helped pave the way for 206 rushing yards for the Wolfpack.
 
DEFENSIVE LINEMAN – Gabe Kirschke, 5th, DL, Wake Forest (Lone Tree, Colorado)
  • Helped Wake Forest earn a 30-27 upset victory at No. 16 Louisville on Saturday.
  • Recorded three tackles along with two sacks and the game-ending blocked field goal late in the fourth quarter against the Cardinals.
  • Marked the first multi-sack game of his career.
  • Recorded a sack on second-and-11 in the first quarter before a key sack on third-and-4 from the Wake Forest 19-yardline in the third quarter.
  • Sealed the victory by blocking a potential game-tying 57-yard field goal attempt with 18 seconds remaining in the game.
 
LINEBACKER – Matt Rose, 5th, LB, Stanford (Brecksville, Ohio)
  • Led Stanford in total tackles with 11, including eight solo stops, in the win over Georgia Tech.
  • Added 2.5 tackles-for-loss, setting a new career-high.
  • Became the first Cardinal with at least 11 tackles in a game and 2.5 tackles-for-loss since Bobby Okereke on November 10, 2017, against then-No. 9 Washington.
  • Marked the sixth time in his career with at least 10 tackles in a game.
 
DEFENSIVE BACK – Elliot Washington II, Sr., CB, Clemson (Sarasota, Florida)
  • Recorded two interceptions in Clemson's road ACC win at California.
  • One of only two ACC players with multiple interceptions in Week 4, but was the only one to do it against Power Four competition.
  • Was a key part of a Clemson defense that held Cal to 145 passing yards, including a career-low 119 yards for Cal quarterback Jaron-Keawe Sagapolutele.
  • Became the first Clemson player with multiple interceptions in a game since Ricardo Jones in the 2025 regular season finale at South Carolina.
  • Has recorded an interception in back-to-back games for the first time in his career. 
  • Became the first Clemson player with an interception in consecutive games since Ricardo Jones in the final two games of the 2025 regular season.
  • Increased his career interception total to five, with his three interceptions this season marking his first career multi-interception season.
 
SPECIALIST – Bryant Wesco Jr., Jr., WR/PR, Clemson (Midlothian, Texas)
  • Recorded a 65-yard go-ahead punt return touchdown in Clemson's win at California.
  • The punt return touchdown was Clemson’s first since Amari Rodgers’ 58-yard return at Boston College on November 10, 2018, a span of 2,876 days.
  • Was the only player in the ACC to score a special teams touchdown in Week 4.
  • Clemson improved to 6-0 under Dabo Swinney in games in which Clemson has returned a punt for a touchdown.
 
ROOKIE – Demetrice McCray, Fr., WR, Pitt (Clermont, Florida)
  • Caught three passes for 73 yards and two touchdowns in Pitt’s 59-0 victory over Bucknell.
  • Led all ACC true freshmen in receptions, receiving yards and touchdown receptions for the week. He was the conference’s only true freshman with multiple touchdown receptions.
  • Became the first Pitt freshman with multiple touchdown receptions in a game since Tyler Boyd caught three at Duke in 2013.
  • Recorded his first collegiate touchdowns on receptions of eight and 48 yards in the second quarter.
  • Averaged 24.3 yards per reception, with his 48-yard touchdown representing Pitt’s longest play from scrimmage.
  • Tied for the FBS lead among true freshmen in touchdown receptions and ranked fifth among true freshmen in receiving yards for the week.
  • Helped Pitt establish school records for total offense (766 yards), passing yards (574) and touchdown passes (eight), with the touchdown total also tying the ACC team record.
