ACC Tabs Field Hockey Players of the Week

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – Wake Forest freshman forward Bianca Rees-Gibbs was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Field Hockey Offensive Player of the Week, while Duke sophomore goalkeeper Kaiya Chepow and North Carolina fifth-year back Grace Pottebaum were named the league’s Co-Defensive Players of the Week following games played September 21-27.
 
ACC OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Bianca Rees-Gibbs, Wake Forest, F, Fr.
  • Totaled six points on three goals to lead Wake Forest in a pair of top-11 matchups.
  • Scored just two minutes into the Demon Deacons’ contest at No. 5 Duke.
  • Added two goals against No. 11 Syracuse, accounting for half of Wake Forest’s scoring output in Sunday’s matchup.
  • Landed six of her eight shots on goal over the weekend.
 
ACC CO-DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Grace Pottebaum, North Carolina, B, 5th
  • Led the North Carolina defense that allowed just one goal, five shots, two shots on goal and two penalty corners in two dominant road wins.
  • Helped the Tar Heels hold Stanford scoreless for more than 57 minutes of an 8-1 victory.
  • Against No. 17 California, North Carolina did not allow a shot on goal or a penalty corner.
  • This marked the first time this season the Tar Heels have held an opponent without a shot on goal.
 
ACC CO-DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Kaiya Chepow, Duke, GK, So.
  • Recorded seven saves and one shutout as No. 5 Duke posted wins over No. 3 Wake Forest and Boston College.
  • Helped Duke extend its winning streak to five games.
  • Made four saves in the Blue Devils’ 3-2 overtime comeback victory over the Demon Deacons, including a crucial stop at the 71:39 mark to preserve the tie.
  • Added three saves in Duke’s 1-0 win over Boston College, helping limit the Eagles to season lows in both shots and penalty corners.
