CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – Clemson junior midfielder Ransford Gyan was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, while SMU senior defender Enzo Panozzo claimed ACC Defensive Player of the Week honors for matches played from September 21-27, as announced Tuesday. Panozzo was tabbed Defensive Player of the Week for the second straight week.
OFFENSIVE – Ransford Gyan, Jr., M, Clemson (Sunyani, Ghana)
• Recorded two goals and an assist in Clemson’s 4-0 triumph over Boston College.
• The two-goal performance marked his second career brace.
• Added an assist on Duncan Wilson’s second goal of the match.
• Named ACC Offensive Player of the Week for the second time this season (Sept. 8).
DEFENSIVE – Enzo Panozzo, Sr., D, SMU (Sarasota, Florida)
• Led SMU to a 3-0 road win at Virginia Tech, marking the Mustangs’ third clean sheet of the season.
• SMU's defense limited Virginia Tech to its second-fewest shot attempts of the season (8).
• Also recorded an assist on SMU’s second goal.
Men’s Soccer Notes
• In the latest NCAA RPI, released Monday, six ACC teams rank among the top 30: No. 2 Pitt, No. 3 Clemson, No. 8 SMU, No. 12 Notre Dame, No. 24 Louisville and No. 27 Syracuse. That is tied for the most of any conference.
• ACC teams are 59-16-13 (.744) against non-conference competition this season. The winning percentage and total number of wins both are the best of any conference.
• SMU (8-0-1) is one of seven teams nationally that have yet to lose a match this season. The Mustangs lead the nation in scoring defense (0.33) this season.
