A 2012 graduate of Winthrop University, McGinnis also spent time at Anderson University (S.C.), where he was Assistant Sports Information Director from 2013-15.  He served as the primary contact for men's and women's soccer, women's basketball, wrestling, men's and women's tennis and baseball, as well as the lead role in the Trojans’ social media platforms and live streaming.

McGinnis also spent time as an Intern with Appalachian State (2012-13) and the South Atlantic Conference (2012), and began his career as a Student Assistant SID with Winthrop.
