Matt VanSandt is in his fourth year as Director of Championships at the Atlantic Coast Conference.  He joined the office in August 2022 and his responsibilities include regular season and championship management of Field Hockey, Men’s and Women’s Swimming & Diving, Men’s Golf, Women’s Lacrosse, and Men’s Lacrosse. 
 
Before joining the ACC, VanSandt worked at the Big South Conference for 11 years, where he oversaw all aspects of the Big South’s Championships.  He was the administrator for men’s and women’s cross country, men’s and women’s indoor track & field, men’s and women’s outdoor track & field, men’s and women’s soccer, women’s lacrosse, men’s and women’s tennis, and assisted in the overall championship operations for men's and women's basketball. VanSandt also developed playing schedules, oversaw officiating programs, and was the primary contact for the purchasing of participant gifts and awards. Finally, he updated all Conference policies and regulations pertaining to sport administration.

Prior to heading the Championships department, VanSandt was the Assistant Director of Marketing at the Big South where he was responsible for assisting with the implementation and execution of the Big South's marketing program.  He served as the League liaison for the Big South Marketing Directors and assisted with growing the Conference's Collegiate Partner Program.  

VanSandt joined the Big South in 2011 after earning master's degrees in both Business Administration and Sports Administration from Ohio University.  

VanSandt's experience also includes working for the Louisville Sports Commission and the inaugural Paul Hornung College Football Award. During the summer of 2010, VanSandt interned at the University of Wisconsin in the compliance and student-athlete development office, where he provided interpretation of the NCAA Division I Manual for coaches, staff, and student-athletes.

A native of Roanoke, Va., VanSandt graduated Cum Laude from Augustana College in 2006 with a bachelor's degree in business administration and sociology.  He was a three-year member of the men's track & field team as a mid-distance runner.

VanSandt resides in Charlotte with his wife, Becky, and son, Logan.
