ACC Ties Record with 18 MLS Draft Picks

Six ACC players selected on Tuesday in third and fourth rounds

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Six ACC men’s soccer players were drafted on Tuesday afternoon as the 2017 MLS SuperDraft wrapped up via conference call with the third and fourth rounds. 

The six draft picks on Tuesday brings the ACC’s total to 18 players selected in the 2017 MLS Draft, more than twice as many as any other conference and tied for the most in a year in league history. 

Four ACC players were selected in the third round: Duke’s Robert Moewes (Toronto FC, 52nd), Syracuse’s Chris Nanco (Philadelphia Union, 55th), Louisville’s Michael DeGraffenriedt (New York City FC, 60th), and Syracuse’s Oyvind Alseth (Toronto FC, 65th).

Louisville’s Romilio Hernandez (Portland Timbers, 80th) and Juan Pablo Saavedra (Toronto FC, 87th) were picked in the fourth round. 

Nine different ACC programs had at least one player drafted, and Louisville and Syracuse led all schools in the country with four players selected.
