GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Florida State’s Jackson Lueck has been voted the ACC Baseball Player of the Week, while Boston College’s Dan Metzdorf and Miami’s Evan McKendry were selected as Co-Pitchers of the Week.
                                                                     
ACC weekly honors are determined by a vote of a select media panel. This is third ACC Pitcher of the Week honor this season for McKendry, and the first career award for both Lueck and Metzdorf.
 
Lueck hit three home runs and drove in 10 runs to lead the Seminoles to a two-game sweep of No. 21 UCF and a series victory at North Carolina last week. The junior left fielder from Orlando, Florida, hit a home run in FSU’s 6-4 win over UCF on Tuesday, added one Friday at North Carolina and followed up Nick Derr’s grand slam with a solo home run in FSU’s five-run eighth inning Sunday. Lueck tied a season high with three hits in the second game of Friday’s doubleheader and set a season high with four RBI in the first game that day. Lueck walked three times and reached base at a .417 clip.
 
Metzdorf struck out a career-high 13 batters in a no-decision on Saturday against Virginia Tech in 8.0 innings of work, the most strikeouts by a Boston College pitcher since 2007. The junior from Burlington, Massachusetts, did not allow a walk to the 28 batters faced, allowing just one run and two singles. Metzdorf left with a 2-1 lead, and the Eagles would go on to win the game 6-2 to clinch the series victory.
 
McKendry continued his hot start to the season on Saturday against No. 24 Virginia.  The sophomore from Pembroke Pines, Florida, recorded a double-digit strikeout performance for the third time in the past four weeks, compiling 12 against the Cavaliers. McKendry went a career long-tying 7.0 innings and allowed just three hits, three walks and zero runs to help clinch the series for Miami.
