GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Duke third baseman Kristina Foreman and Virginia Tech third baseman Kelsey Bennett have been selected as the ACC Softball Co-Players of the Week, and Florida State’s Meghan King has been named Pitcher of the Week.
Forman had a strong weekend for Duke in a sweep of Georgia Tech. The freshman from Tampa, Florida, recorded multiple hits and at least one run in each game, going 9-for-15 at the plate for a .600 batting average and slugged 1.000. She added three RBI, two homeruns, a stolen base and 15 total bases.
Bennett shined for Virginia Tech in a 3-1 week that included wins over Radford and Louisville. The freshman from Jefferson, Georgia, recorded a hit and a run in each game, racking up 12 total bases while posting a .600 batting average (6-for-10). Bennett knocked in 8 RBI to go along with her four total runs and two homeruns.
King didn’t allow a single run in her three appearances of a weekend sweep of Virginia. The senior form Parkland, Florida, picked up two wins on the weekend, and struck out 10 batters in only 6.1 innings of work. King allowed four total hits and an opponent batting average of .182.
