Eight ACC Teams Among USTFCCCA Preseason Rankings

GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Eight Atlantic Coast Conference teams – four men’s and four women’s – are among the USTFCCCA Coaches Preseason Cross Country Rankings announced on Tuesday.

ACC defending men’s champion Notre Dame leads all conference teams at No. 9, while defending women’s champion NC State checks in at No. 10.

No. 12 Syracuse follows Notre Dame on the men’s side, along with No. 13 NC State and No. 23 Virginia.

Notre Dame’s women’s earned a No. 11 preseason ranking, followed by No. 20 Florida State and No. 24 Syracuse.

The national poll follows Monday’s regional rankings that featured three ACC teams – the NC State men (Southeast), Syracuse men (Northeast) and NC State women (Southeast) earning No. 1 spots. The Notre Dame men were No. 2 in the Great Lakes Region, and Virginia ranked No. 2 in the Southeast. On the women’s side, Florida State placed No. 2 in the South Region, while Notre Dame was third in the Great Lakes and Syracuse placed No. 5 in the Northeast.

The collegiate cross country season gets underway this weekend, with nine ACC schools set to see their first action. Virginia Tech will be the host school for the 2019 ACC Cross Country Championships, which are slated for the morning of Friday, Nov. 1, at Blacksburg, Virginia.
