CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – NC State’s Angelina Napoleon and Wake Forest’s Rocky Hansen, a pair of ACC Champions and All-America standouts on the course, have been named the 2025 Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s and Men’s Cross Country Scholar-Athletes of the Year. The duo also headlines the 2025 ACC All-Academic Teams for cross country, which features 156 student-athletes – 86 women and 70 men.
This fall, Napoleon won the 2025 ACC Women’s Cross Country Championship in Louisville, breaking the finish line with a course-record time of 19:13.9 to help NC State win its 30th ACC Women’s Cross Country title. She then finished sixth at the NCAA Southeast Regional meet before earning All-America Honors for her performance at the NCAA Championships, clocking a time of 19:22.7. Her strong performance helped the Wolfpack win its fourth national championship in five years.
Napoleon, a junior from Allegany, New York, is also an Academic All-American and helped NC State achieve recognition as the National Scholar Team of the Year for the fourth time in five years. A Sport Management major, Napoleon is also a member of the Dean’s List at NC State.
Hansen won the 2025 ACC Men’s Cross Country Championship in a time of 22:18.6, breaking the E.P. “Tom” Sawyer State Park course record by 40 seconds. Hansen became the first Demon Deacon to win the ACC men’s cross country individual championship since 2001. Earlier in the season, he also set the course record at the Panorama Farms course in Charlottesville, Virginia, while winning the individual title at the Panorama Farms Invitational. Hansen also won the NCAA Southeast Regional individual championship and helped Wake Forest to its first regional crown since 2021.
At the NCAA Championships, Hansen finished as the national runner-up to cap off earning All-America, All-Region and All-ACC honors. He finished the national meet with a career-best time of 28:38.0 in the 10K.
An Engineering major, Hansen hails from Hendersonville, North Carolina. Throughout his time at Wake Forest, Hansen has continued to shine in the classroom, being named to the Dean’s List and earning USTFCCCA All-Academic honors.
The ACC Scholar-Athlete of the Year awards were established in September of 2007 to be awarded annually to the top junior or senior student-athlete in their respective sports.
Academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team include a 3.0-grade point average for the previous two semesters and 3.0 cumulative average during one’s academic career, while being enrolled at the institution for at least one year and being classified as an undergraduate student. In addition, cross country student-athletes must compete in the ACC Championships, NCAA Regionals or NCAA Championships.
