GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – Pitt sophomore midfielder Valentin Noel and Clemson senior forward Kimarni Smith were named the ACC Men’s Soccer Co-Offensive Players of the Week, while Clemson junior goalkeeper George Marks picked up ACC Defensive Player of the Week honors.
Noel scored twice on Sunday evening at No. 5 Virginia, the second multi-score goal game of his career, as the second-ranked Panthers remained undefeated with a 3-2 overtime win in Charlottesville. He put four shots on goal in the contest. Noel now owns four goals this season, which is tied with Wake Forest’s Kyle Holcomb for the ACC lead.
Smith contributed four points (one goal, two assists) last week as Clemson posted a pair of victories, 2-1 over top-ranked Wake Forest on Tuesday and 2-1 in double overtime over Duke on Friday. Smith assisted on the game-winning goal in both matches. He scored his 20th career goal in the match against Wake Forest.
Marks earned the win in goal in each of Clemson’s wins last week. He combined to make a total of seven saves across the two matches. His biggest save came on Friday against Duke, as he made a point-blank save in the 84th minute following a Blue Devil corner kick. He stopped a header from short range to keep the score level and eventually force overtime, where the Tigers won it in the 101st minute.

ACC Network has a doubleheader Friday, with Wake Forest playing at Duke at 6 p.m., followed by Clemson at NC State at 8 p.m. Also this weekend on ACCNX: Pitt at Louisville at 7 p.m. Friday, Virginia at Notre Dame at noon Saturday and Syracuse at Virginia Tech at 7 p.m. Saturday.
