Georgia Tech, North Carolina Receive ACC Women’s Tennis Weekly Honors

Greensboro, N.C. (theACC.com) – Georgia Tech’s Kenya Jones has been selected as the ACC Women’s Tennis Player of the Week, and North Carolina’s Elizabeth Scotty has been named Freshman of the Week.
 
Jones shined in Georgia Tech’s three matches against ranked teams, including a win over No. 12 Ohio State. The senior from Memphis, Tennessee, won all five of the matches, including victories in singles over Stanford’s No. 6-ranked Michaela Gordon and Ohio State’s No. 8-ranked Shiori Fukuda. In doubles, Jones partnered with Victoria Flores to win two matches, highlighted by a victory over Florida State’s 15th-ranked pair of Victoria Allen and Petra Hule.
 
Scotty won all six of her matches, two in singles and four in doubles, to help the Tar Heels cap a national championship at the ITA Indoors. The rookie from Annapolis, Maryland, didn’t lose a set in UNC’s wins over No. 4 UCLA, No. 5 Duke, No. 8 NC State and Arizona State. Scotty partnered with fellow Tar Heel Cameron Morra in all four of the doubles wins.
